Looking for a creative and screen-free early release day activity in Needham, MA? Our Early Release Day Pottery Workshops are the perfect hands-on experience for kids in grades 1–9 to explore real ceramic clay art while having fun with friends in a welcoming studio setting.
Each single-day drop-off class includes a themed project (see full list below), where kids and teens will learn beginner-friendly hand-building pottery techniques using ceramic clay. Every child will create and decorate functional pottery pieces, which we kiln-fire and glaze to be waterproof and food-safe — ready to use, gift, or proudly display at home!
Select your session from the dropdown menu. All workshops run from 12:45pm-3pm.
Note: We require a minimum of 3 kids to run a session. If your selected date doesn’t reach the minimum, we’ll offer a refund or free transfer to another session. You will be notified 4 days before the workshop date if it is canceled.
- Hands-On Pottery Workshop: Each session is guided by an experienced pottery instructor in a fun, pressure-free environment.
- Pottery 101: Kids and teens will learn foundational hand-building techniques like pinch pots, coils, slab work, and more.
- All Materials + Tools Provided: We supply everything even aprons! Kids and teens take home up to 2 pottery pieces (after firing + glazing).
- Fully Fired + Glazed Pieces: All pieces are kiln-fired and glazed to be waterproof, food-safe, and long-lasting.
- Creative + Social Vibes: Drop-off sessions are always beginner-friendly. They are relaxed, upbeat, and a great way to build confidence while getting messy with clay.
Note: Finished pieces are ready for pick-up 4–6 weeks after class. We hold items for 30 days after notifying you.
Our Early Release Day pottery workshops feature rotating themes to keep things fresh and fun. From sculpting mugs and holiday gifts to crafting planters and tic-tac-toe boards, each session is a hands-on clay adventure that builds creativity, confidence, and keeps them excited to come back for more.
11/19 & 2/4: Tic-Tac-Toe Boards
It’s game time! Kids and teens will sculpt their own clay tic-tac-toe boards and create unique, themed game pieces—like stars vs. moons or cats vs. dogs. Once fired, they'll take home a handmade game set they can actually play with.
12/3: Holiday Decor + Gifts
In this festive workshop, kids and teens will make giftable clay treasures like ornaments, menorahs, mini dishes, and seasonal decorations. Perfect for creating a heartfelt holiday keepsake for someone special...or for themselves.
12/17 & 4/1: Mug Making
Warm up with a cozy creative session! Kids and teens will hand-build a clay mug using slab and pinch techniques, then personalize it with textures and stamps. Great for cocoa, cider, or just proudly displaying at home.
1/7: Magnets + Picture Frames
This session invites kids and teens to create their own handmade magnets and picture frames. Perfect for decorating their rooms! From colorful designs to personalized details, each piece is a fun way to make their space feel uniquely theirs.
1/21: Valentine’s Wall Pocket
Kids and teens will make heart-shaped wall pockets perfect for holding little notes, flowers, or tiny treasures. A sweet way to spread the love (or stash their own secrets) just in time for Valentine’s Day.
3/4: Animal Pal Planters
This session invites kids and teens to create their own handmade planters. Pick your favorite creature, and we’ll help you turn it into an amazing, fully waterproof planter. This is a fun, hands-on way to explore pottery basics while making something both creative and functional.
3/18: Vases
This session invites kids and teens to design and create their own handmade vases. Perfect for Spring flowers! They’ll learn to sculpt, shape, and decorate their piece. A fun, hands-on way to explore pottery basics while making something beautiful to display at home.
4/15: Earth Day Planters + Plant Impressions
Celebrate Earth Day with clay! Kids and teens will create a mini planter using coil or slab techniques and decorate it using nature-inspired textures like leaves and flowers.
5/6: Garden Markers, Gnomes + More
Whimsy meets gardening in this sculpt session. Kids and teens will build garden gnome or fairy sculptures and create a set of personalized garden markers. Perfect for little hands and big imaginations.
6/3: Sea Creatures + Shell Trays
