The cool venue and excellent weather aside (which only added to the experience), my mom and I loved this class! The local teacher couldn’t make the class as scheduled and instead of cancelling/rescheduling, pottery with a purpose flew in another teacher from Massachusetts to run the class! We had a great time making our creations and the teacher was fun and friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to paint and get my pieces fired at a local kiln so I can start using them!
Sip & Sculpt Pottery Class — 5/24, 6/28 (Crestwood KY)
My husband and I had a great time at our pottery day-date! It was fun, stress-free, and we had a blast. I loved being able to bring out our creative sides...even though we're not skilled at all. It was just fun to play. And Sam was an awesome instructor. Engaging, helpful and fun to be around. Would definitely recommend for a girls' outing, mother-daughter event, or a date with the hubby!
Hostess was pleasant (conversational, polite, enthusiastic), but we were expecting a bit more guidance on more than making just a pinch pot. No other techniques were discussed on how to create.
Not hostess’s issue but the venue lacked sufficient light to see what we were doing. The space is more for social gathering/parties rather than working with your hands.
Also, it was interesting that the local KY employees were unavailable.
It wasn’t a horrible way to spend a few hours but we were expecting more.
Thanks so much for your feedback, Kathy, we always appreciate hearing what could’ve made the experience better.
We want to share some context. Our local KY teacher unexpectedly quit just before your workshop. Instead of canceling, we went above and beyond as a small business and flew out one of our most-loved MA-based instructors fo a quick stay in Louisville to ensure the event could still happen. We recognize it may have felt like something was missing if you were hoping for a local teacher and for more advanced techniques beyond the pinch pot, coil building and transforming your pot into something using scoring/slipping. If you have ideas for what you would have liked to learn, we'd really love to hear from you at hello@potterywithapurpose.com
We're also happy to share that our brand-new KY-based instructor officially joined us this month, and we're so excited about the creativity and consistency they’ll bring to future workshops.
As for the venue lighting, thanks for the feedback on this. We will look into it for future events.
We hope you’ll give us another shot in the future. We’re always evolving and committed to making each experience even better.
I had an excellent time at my pottery class, I took it with my best friend. The girl who taught it was knowledgeable and did well even though she was a substitute who flew in from mass. She wasn’t prepared for the heat, as most are not used to southern summers unless this is your home base, so she had to adapt her original instructions and such. It seemed over sold for the table size but besides that a great time
